New user pic

I can be a creature of habit. To illustrate the fact, for just about as long as I've had a Livejournal, I've used the same default user pic. Today, thanks to both of my dear loves I have a new user pic and it is now my default. It's a picture from a recent surprise trip that [personal profile] loracs took me on. A group of spaceflight fans set up a display of equipment used in various space missions (Russian and American). I got to touch all kinds of equipment that had actually been in space. The helmet I am wearing was used in space. How do I look? Thanks to [personal profile] loracs for the wonderful surprise and taking the picture (she used her cellphone pretty good, huh?). Thanks to [personal profile] serenejournal for helping me size the picture.

P.S. Astronauts are much smaller than I expected

Fantastic!

Yeah, I recently read somewhere about there supposedly having been a height limit on astronauts.

The thing that amazes me most is that I recognized your face under it, given how long it's been since I last saw you.

Happy Tuesday!

Snazzy! :)

I expect that it makes a lot of practical sense to have smaller folks when it costs that much in fuel to transport every gram.

Is this version a little more naturally-coloured?

(I'm just guessing, since I obviously wasn't there, but the user icon looked yellow to me.)

I have a nephew who is 6'7". He was told he could never be a military pilot because he's too tall. He wouldn't fit in the cockpit.

You look fabulous. That's a really nice picture, and it sounds like a great trip!

I remember very well being in the Smithsonian a couple of years ago, whith a piece of the moon and a few of the space capsules!
