The 21st of February is my 51st birthday. With everything that's been going, hell *is* going on, I'm not sure I'll be interested in celebrating, but [personal profile] loracs asked me what I wanted to do. It occurred to me, I have no idea. I thought it might be fun to ask you all. What should I do for my birthday?

I'm not much of a party person. I love music, theater, movies, books, food etc. So, is there anything fun, new, different happening on my birthday that I might enjoy? I figure, even if I don't celebrate this year. I should end up with a list of stuff to try, see, visit, any ideas?

I was planning to maybe take you to a movie on Sunday, but here are some possibilities for your birthday, in order of how interested I thought you'd be in them:

Our family tries to find a dinner theater for birthdays. Maybe there is something playing in your area?

There were 2 things that I wanted to do for my birthday but we were too broke: go see Ka and pig out at my favorite sushi restaurant. We may yet get to do these and the actual day isn't important--I usually avoid restaurants on that day.

What haven't you done that you want to do?

I recall that for one of [personal profile] serenejournal's recent birthdays, she declared a celebration month, and invited friends to spend time with her any time during that month. For someone who's not necessarily into parties, this sounded to me like a great way to celebrate with lots of one's friends. I would personally *love* to come up there and take you out to dinner (or to a movie, or whatever) sometime, in honor of your birthday.

Beyond that, I don't know of any event-type things that are in the right geographic area for you. Alexei and I recently saw a terrific play at the San Jose Rep (A Picasso), which is running until the 22nd, but I'm guessing that's a bit far. If anything else comes to mind, though, I will certainly holler.

Go to a microbrewery and try three or four kinds of beers made on the spot.

If it's sunny, spend the afternoon in a park, maybe with a picnic.

Go to a museum you haven't been to before.
