It is a bit chai-like. I'm not sure if Yak or water buffalo milk is more traditional, but to me it tasted like condensed milk. The tea is a very strong black. It is quite sweet so if you don't like that sort of thing you may not like it but strong, sweet fluids are very much something I like.
