I'm so old!

Comic Store Cashier: I'm going to Disneyland this weekend and it's going to rain the whole time!

Me: That doesn't sound like fun.

Comic Store Cashier: Yeah, and it's been like five years since I was there.

Me: I think the last time I went to Disneyland was in 1984.

Comic Store Cashier: That was the year I was born.

*sigh*

I know xactly how you feel...

On a bus with a bunch of students in Greece, the driver was playing a tape of 80's hits, stuff from when I was in college the first time. One of the kids piped up and said "this is stuff my Mom used to play while driving me to 3rd grade!"

But, we are wise....

Well, I'm not sure how wise I am. I am gray haired however, so I can fake wise. :-)

What, you wanted people to stop being born when you stopped going to Disneyland?

[identity profile] stonebender.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankly, yes, yes that would be an excellent idea! :-)

That would sure help with the over population problem. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] hitchhiker just pointed out someone who is VERY cute, VERY hot, to me, on okcupid.

Her profile -- omg, she insists it's "San Francisco" and not Frisco, she listens to "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me." She's so hot.

But I noticed she's 23 before I noticed she's straight.

That's kinda sad.

*nodnod* It's not like I'm particularly bothered by my age (really, I'm telling the truth), but it's always a bit of a shock when I realize the person I'm having an interesting conversation with or the woman I'm kind of crushing on turns out to be in their 20's. I guess internally I don't feel particularly different from when I was in my 20's. I mean my disability has changed and I'm a little thicker around the middle, but I still feel like me. Then I realize I'm older than my parents were when they had me. The 90's seem so recent to me. Now I see retrospectives on VH1 about that decade. It's always a bit of a shock

There's a lot of that sort of thing going around.

I remember when just having been born too close to the moon landing to remember it made someone seem really young to me.

last time I was at Disneyland (and it was also the first) was in 1974.

I mark someone as being in my generation if they can remember where they were and how they felt the day Kennedy was killed (JFK, that is).

and when they landed on the moon, I was 19 and drinking Kahlua with my parents and some friends, making fun of the first words spoken on the moon. it was a good day.

I know where I was when JFK was shot, but I don't remember anything at all about the moon landing. I've seen the film and heard the audio, but I don't remember where I was when it was actually happening. Maybe it's the lack of memory that is really dating me here.

I've never been to Disneyland.
