How I spent my second anniversary

Yesterday was [personal profile] serenejournal's and my second anniversary. A mixed bag sort of day really, which doesn’t reflect on our anniversary, but does reflect my life. The second Wednesday of every month is the Ed Roberts Campus meeting. We had some good news last Monday in that we got a judgment from Berkeley’s Landmark Preservation Commission that the Campus will not adversely impact the "historic" nature of the neighborhood. Now all we have to do is deal with the appeal to our building permit. Despite the fact that the vast majority of the neighbors are enthusiastic about the building, four neighbors have decided that preserving a BART parking lot for its historic value is more important than the new building.

The ERC meeting was more emotionally fraught (for me) than I had anticipated. I doubt that anyone noticed and it didn't affect the meeting in any negative way but I felt "beat up" after it. Carol picked me up after the meeting and we attempted to buy an anniversary present, unsuccessfully. If I can find it, it will be a great anniversary present. If I can't, it’ll still be a great present later. I went with Carol to hang out at her work. Basically I read until it is time to go home, when [personal profile] serenejournal called Carol''s cell. Evidently she had gotten out of work a little early and decided to surprise me at home. Since Carol's work is close to [personal profile] serenejournal's home. She dropped by work to hang out with me.

After searching for coffee, we ended up sitting in my car in Studio One's parking lot. We spent a few hours talking about stuff and nonsense. Recalling our first date and how stupid we were for scheduling it on the last day she was in the Bay Area. I remembered our first hungry kiss. Not eating lentil soup at Mel’s and being all smoopy. Being excited and thrilled and sad it ended so soon, waiting the endless two months to see her again.

We both went to our respective homes and watched "Lost" and "Alias" by calling each other during the commercials. "Do you believe what Locke did?" "Man, can Sydney strut!" The day had a rough beginning, but a sweet and wonderful end.

The last two years have enriched my life in so many ways. I love you, [personal profile] serenejournal.
