Poetry

[personal profile] serenejournal was featured at a poetry reading in the South Bay.

Being a dutiful groupie, I went down to see her. [personal profile] loracs drove [personal profile] serenejournal, [personal profile] someotherguy and I down there. We are good at traveling together. Having done so, recently, on a road trip to San Diego. Saw [profile] leback and her sweetie Robert (I thought I saw Alexi as well but I may have hallucinated that. I didn't see him the rest of the night.)

Saw [personal profile] vito_excalibur, who has been busily applying to grad-schools for architecture. I hadn't realized that [personal profile] badgerbag was organizing the meeting. I know her mostly through my James Tiptree Jr. Literary Award work. She's a member of the jury this year. Collected a nice hug from her.

I enjoyed listening to [personal profile] serenejournal's poetry as always. It was fun to see her be the center of attention. The audience really enjoyed her. I got to hear a wonderful rendition of Chopin on the piano. I appeared to be the only one who didn't really enjoy the other poets. There were a few nicely turned phrases. Some of them were better performers than poets, but one needs to take my opinion with a grain of salt. I am a long way from a poet. :-)

I loved walking around Palo Alto at night in search of coffee and/or dessert with the "gang": [personal profile] loracs, [personal profile] serenejournal, [personal profile] someotherguy, [profile] leback, Robert and [personal profile] badgerbag. We came upon a Capoeira circle, which made me homesick for the old American Magic Umbanda House folks. We ended up at Cafe 220 where I enjoyed the company along with my Turkish coffee.
