I'm really liking Pushing Daisies so far! Created by Bryan Fuller, who also created Dead Like Me another real favorite of mine that got canceled. (although apparently a direct to DVD movie is in the works for Dead Like Me.) It's another quirky comedy about death and life. As a policy I don't like movies or shows that do a lot of voiceover narration or having characters speak directly to the audience. There are of course exceptions, but I think it's a lazy way to do exposition. I forgave PD on its premiere episode because the plot gimmick is a bit complicated. If they continue to use heavy narration I may get annoyed.

I'm catching up on Dexter on Netflix. I don't get Showtime or HBO. so Netflix it is! Another show with lots of voiceover narration. I'm getting a little tired of him constantly saying that he doesn't have feelings (after seeing two discs of season one). Yet the show is so very sick and twisted and wonderful. Its set in Miami with some beautiful shots of the Florida town. Love seeing Michael C. Hall (David Fisher, Six Feet Under) and Julie Benz (Darla from Buffy). James Remar does a magnificent job playing Dexter's oddly touching and incredibly creepy foster father.

Although I'm going to continue watching it, for a while. I'm not pleased with the Bionic Woman. I'm not sure I like that her accident was (apparently) on purpose. Unless there's a lot more explanation I won't be happy. I didn't like the final speech Jamie gave to the "Oscar Goldman" character. That, "Send who you send and I'll kill them one by one." thing. I get that she doesn't want to work for those guys, but there's nothing in the episode that warrants that speech. The creators seem so determined to make their BW different from the original show. To make it dark and edgy that they suck much of the joy there should be in the show.

I wanted at least a couple of scenes when Jamie gets to discover what she can do. When she gets to be a little clumsy but strong. It happens a little in the show but nowhere near how I'd like to be. I do like how it's filmed. It's very beautiful. I like Miguel Ferrer in the Oscar Goldman role. I think Katee Sackhoff is way hot and is interesting to watch as the first "Bionic Woman". I'm not sure I like how the conflict between the two bionic woman is developing. We'll see.

Maybe more later.
