I've been meaning to make these journal entries, comments etc. for awhile now and managed to procrastinate many of them away. I will try to catch up on my livejournal participation today. At least those I remember.
Regarding the movie I Robot: No it has no relation to the anthology of the same name written by Isaac Asimov. To be fair in the credits it says, "inspired by" rather than based on I Robot. I know it's a fine point but it makes a difference to me. I enjoyed the movie and in my opinion, although Asimov would never have written a screenplay like the movie, it is faithful to the spirit of Asimov's robot stories. CGI has improved. I liked the look of the robots. Will Smith's acting is a bit heavy-handed but not out of line for an action flick.
