[I have and will continue to loose track of the details of the lives of folks on my friends list. I don't have a great memory for such things and I often get so behind in reading my friends list that I skip hunks of posts. I'm sorry but just because you're on my friends list don't assume I'll remember the name of your dog or even if you have a dog. I don't expect anyone to remember details of my life either. Having said that, I'm using the meme below to try to get me to start posting more.]
You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
First Name: Guy
Age: 50
Location: San Leandro, California
Occupation: Unemployed writer, disability advocate.
Partner(s): One live-in partner,
loracs been together for 25 years. Another partner
serenejournal who lives not too far away. We've been together 5 years.
Kids: I guess I sorta have a daughter by proxy. I'm not really sure how to describe my relationship with her. We don't really know each other that well and I've certainly not been any kind of parent to her, but now that she's living with
serenejournal I suspect we'll have lots more to do with each other.
Pets: Dogs mostly, I have a Doberman pincer right now called Gilly (She started out with the name Gillis, (Get it? Dobie Gillis, oh well you're probably too young. :), but the name never stuck. So now she's our silly Gilly.
School: UC Berkeley, Dramatic Arts (1988!)
Brothers/Sisters: Two sisters, both younger than me
tracytreefrog and Cheryl. A younger brother Rich.
Parents: Both still around, both having significant health issues. Dad just got out of the hospital last Saturday. My baby sister, Cheryl, her husband Eric, their three kids live in my parents house with them. Cheryl is effectively my parents caregiver which is too much for her and I'm trying to help her get more support. I'm obviously, not good with the heavy lifting.
Health: Good, after a fairly scary bout of pneumonia. I'm still dealing with the emotional fallout and I feel very mortall these days.
List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
(1) I'm struggling with age and changes in my disability.
(2) Struggling with how to help my loved ones.
(3) I desparately want Barack Obama to be President.
(4) What now?
(5) I want to figure out how to comfortably visit Europe *with* my power wheelchair and all my other necessary equiptment.
Oh, and feel free to ask. I might even give answers.
