Day 05 - A show you hate.

In general, I'm not fond of reality shows whose sole purpose seems to be showing human beings in the least favorable light. Especially when participants aren't able to make an informed consent. I also don't like shows that are supposed to result in a life-changing decision or event. The first category are shows like Scare Tactics. Scaring people for fun is not okay with me.

Examples of the second category are shows like The Bachelor or Bachelorette. The show I least like in this category is probably the The Biggest Loser. I think people get to decide what they want to do with their body and I wouldn't be interested in stopping people from going on that show. I don't believe that losing weight in the long term is possible for most people. I think it is a "solution" that can cause more trouble than the "problem". Even people who think dieting can work say that the absolute worst way to lose weight is dropping a lot of weight in a short amount of time. Yet that is exactly what The Biggest Loser seems to advocate. I also think it's another way for self righteous "health experts" to be supported in advocating something that doesn't result in more healthy people but does real damage to folk.

Day 06 - Favourite episode of your favourite t.v show.

Well like I said, I don't really do favorites. So, I thought I'd add a few new television series that I really like and pick at least one of my favorite episodes from each show. The first is from thirtysomething - "Michael Writes a Story" Season 2 : Episode 13. I included a link to the scene I especially like. Unfortunately it's a long clip and the part that I think is really amazing is four or five minutes in. The thing I really like is the appearance of Miles Drentell the head of the advertising company that Michael may be working for.

The next is from WKRP in Cincinnati - "Turkeys Away" Season 1 : Episode 7. I couldn't actually find the scene that I wanted, but the very end of the scene is here. Along with Fawlty Towers, WKRP is the funniest television ever.

I love pretty much all of Northern Exposure, but I especially like "Cicely" Season 3 : Episode 23. Again I couldn't find a scene from the actual episode I liked, but here's the end of the series which I really enjoyed!

Then there is Star Trek, the original series - "A Taste of Armageddon". Here is my absolute favorite Capt. Kirk monologue. Peace through the 12 step program.

Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite t.v show.

This one is a relatively easy for me. From Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Episode Three, Season One. Teacher's Pet. Substitute teacher turns out to be a giant bug who enjoys eating male virgins (and not in the way we like :-) disguised as a hot teacher. So naturally, she goes after Xander.
