Television meme day 05

Day 05 - A show you hate.
In general, I'm not fond of reality shows whose sole purpose seems to be showing human beings in the least favorable light. Especially when participants aren't able to make an informed consent. I also don't like shows that are supposed to result in a life-changing decision or event. The first category are shows like Scare Tactics. Scaring people for fun is not okay with me.
Examples of the second category are shows like The Bachelor or Bachelorette. The show I least like in this category is probably the The Biggest Loser. I think people get to decide what they want to do with their body and I wouldn't be interested in stopping people from going on that show. I don't believe that losing weight in the long term is possible for most people. I think it is a "solution" that can cause more trouble than the "problem". Even people who think dieting can work say that the absolute worst way to lose weight is dropping a lot of weight in a short amount of time. Yet that is exactly what The Biggest Loser seems to advocate. I also think it's another way for self righteous "health experts" to be supported in advocating something that doesn't result in more healthy people but does real damage to folk.
