Yes, I watch entirely too much TV. It's the new season and since I don't have Tivo. I've been keeping myself and 2 video recorders busy. I thought I would write a little about what I'm watching and what I think about it. These comments won't be very in-depth, but here they are.

Whoopi: It's been quite awhile since I liked Whoopi Goldberg. I mainly cauught this because there wasn't anything new against it. After watching two episodes, I'm not watching anymore. The humor is pretty much all about race. We get to laugh at the silly Persian, the white wannabe black woman who's involved with Whoopi's black "white acting" brother.

I saw the first Jack 2.0. There isn't anything original about it. Put Spiderman, The Six Million Dollar man, add a little man from U.N.C.L.E. and you've got the show. I am hoping it will get better. I like the main character. I like the guy trying to train him and I even like their boss. They could get rid of his love interest right now as far as I'm concerned. There's potential here if the writing gets a better real soon.

My nomination for the worst television show ever: Faith and Hope.

My two favorite new television shows so far are: Joan of Arcadia and The Handler. Joan is about the teenage daughter of a police chief. Who starts to have conversations with God. I had thought it would be a version of Touched by an Angel, but this show has some real potential. She's the middle child of 3 kids. Her older brother was hit by a car a year ago and is paralyzed from the waist down. Her younger brother is a stereotypical computer geek. Joe Montagna plays the father and Mary Steenburgen is Mom. Both excellent actor's. I'm a little worried that the plan is to heal the brother. For obvious reasons I hope that doesn't happen. The actor who plays Joan is very very cute. I hope she's playing a much younger character than she actually is or my thoughts about her may be inappropriate (they may be inappropriate anyway she's awfully young :-). Anyway good stuff.

The Handler stars Joe Pantoliano (I think that's how he spells it) who just won an Emmy for his part in the Sopranos. Not much to say about the show right now, but it also has potential.

At this point the only new show I'm looking forward to is Tru Calling with Eliza Dushku (OK, I'm too lazy to look up the spelling of these names, but she played Faith on Buffy).

I hated the first episode of the American version of Coupling. Now I haven't seen the British version, although I plan to, but this version sucked. One really good joke in the whole episode. The one when the guy asked for the condom. I will probably continue to watch it however because it is part of NBC's Thursday lineup.

That's probably enough for now. Oh is anybody else watching Enterprise or am I the only true believer? What do people think of the changes? I'm not sure that I like them.

On Joan of Arcadia: without ever having seen a moment of it, I'm guessing that they won't heal the brother, and here's why:

If they heal the brother on a show early in the season, it will unbalance the story in mid-season. If they heal the brother on a season-ender, they won't have anything to follow up with that has the same (cheap) emotional punch for a season ender the next year.

If it was a closed-ended series or a made-for-TV movie, I'd feel differently, but I'm betting the gimp is there for the duration ... Now let's see if I'm right.

What's so bad about Faith and Hope?
