You're surprised? It's a book meme,
Hardback or Paperback? I have always preferred hardbacks. I can't even manipulate paperbacks anymore. Trying to hold them open without completely destroying the spine with a mouth-stick is not optimal.
Highlight or Underline? Mark up books? I don't think so!
Lewis or Tolkien? I read the Narnia books as a young boy. So Tolkien will never have the same emotional associations. I think Tolkien was a better writer.
E.B. White or A.A. Milne? Milne
T.S. Eliot or e.e. cummings? e.e. cummings
Stephen King or Dean Koontz? Koontz. Although I'm not much of a horror fan either way. Dan Simmons is better than both of them.
Barnes & Noble or Borders? Neither, Cody's, Powell's, or the Other Change of Hobbit.
Waldenbooks or B. Dalton? Again neither, see the previous answer.
Fantasy or Science Fiction? Definitely science-fiction, I'll read fantasy but science-fiction is where I live.
Horror or Suspense? Suspense
Bookmark or Dogear? Bookmark.
Hemingway or Faulkner? Faulkner.
Fitzgerald or Steinbeck? Steinbeck.
John Irving or John Updike? John Irving
Le Guin or Emshwiller? Le Guin, no contest.
Russ or Cherryh? Who the heck put these two together? I've no idea which. They're completely different.
Rice or Hamilton? I haven't read either.
Bronte or Bronte? No opinion.
Homer or Plato? Homer's more fun.
Geoffrey Chaucer or Edmund Spenser? Never read Spencer
Pen or Pencil? I can't really write with either anymore but I used to prefer pen.
Looseleaf or Notebook? Notebook
Alphabetize: By Author or By Title? Fiction by author and then title. In nonfiction, I have a few categories and then alphabetized by author.
Dustjacket: Most definitely!
Novella or Epic? I tend to like longer work.
John Grisham or Scott Turow? I haven't actually read either.
J.K. Rowling or Lemony Snicket? I am not a Rowling fan. I don't really get why people like Harry Potter so much, but I haven't read any Lemony Snicket.
Fiction or Non-fiction? I read both but fiction is by far a favorite.
Historical Biography or Historical Romance? Biography.
A Few Pages per Sitting or Finish at Least a Chapter? I used to be unable to tear myself away from a book practically. These days, chapter or two will do.
Short Story or Creative Non-fiction Essay? No opinion really.
"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"? Once upon a time?
Buy or Borrow? Buy, I'm so hard on books I hate borrowing. Plus I'm enough of a packrat that I really enjoy owning.
Book Reviews or Word of Mouth? Word-of-mouth although a good review will get me to read something.
