I grabbed this from [personal profile] serenejournal. There are some similarities in the answers. All I can say is it's not my fault. :-)

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

I ran for the Presidency of the United States (sort of :-).

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't really do new year's resolutions. I'm constantly working on things I think I should improve. It's one of the things I like and dislike about myself.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Fortunately no.

5. What countries did you visit?

None. The long planned European trip is still in the future.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?

I'd like to feel like I'm not treading water in my life.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

I am not very good at dates I can barely remember my own birthday. I suppose this year's election will stain my heart for awhile.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

We finished our house renovations. Although there's always more that we wish we could do. Future projects will be more in the desire category and not in the necessary category.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Nothing drastic, I don't think I've done as well as I would like in maintaining my own ethical code. I'm not the person I thought I was.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Actually after a couple of years of being marginally healthy, I had a really good year healthwise.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

The KitchenAid mixer for [personal profile] serenejournal.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My loved ones. Carol and [personal profile] serenejournal.have been remarkably strong during a tough year for both of them.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

How anyone could elect George Bush as president.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Living expenses other than that probably movies and games.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Having two incredible partners in my life.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?

Is it "Lets Get it Started" by the Black-Eyed Peas? Not because I particularly liked it. It was just everywhere.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

I. happier or sadder?

Mostly just as happy. I've had a remarkable couple of years.

II. thinner or fatter?

Fatter

III. richer or poorer?

A bit richer actually Although, I don't know how long that will last

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Writing, traveling, being with people I care about.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Being depressed.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Christmas Eve probably hanging out with Carol and Betty. Christmas Day my blood family comes out to visit.

Man, I was really looking forward to a question 21 this year!

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?

Not to anyone I wasn't already in love with, fell in lust gobs of times.

23. How many one-night stands?

None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

West Wing and Lost.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Actually, I don't hate someone that I didn't exactly hate, but was pretty angry at

26. What was the best book you read?

This is a sore spot since I'm not reading as much as I used to read. Of books I have read recently it would probably be a David Sidaris. I can't remember which one.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I can't think of any.

28. What did you want and get?

Another local sweetie?

29. What did you want and not get?

It's mostly my fault for not getting many of them, but they're disability access related equipment of one sort or another. They are mostly in process of getting.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?

That made me think? Probably Osama. Did I watch Matchstick Men this year? Maybe Lord of the Rings

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Is it bad that I don't remember? I am 46

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

A teleporter.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?

Fashion concept? In retrospect, I suppose its hats are in!

34. What kept you sane?

My partners.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

I think this is the year that I really started to respect Johnny Depp's acting ability. He was amazing in Pirates of the Caribbean and wonderful in Finding Neverland. I wish Howard Dean had become the Democratic Party's nominee.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Besides the end of the civilized world?

37. Who did you miss?

[personal profile] serenejournal and, Carol oddly enough.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Ursula K. Le Guin, although we're not exactly buddies.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:

Getting what you want doesn't mean your problems are solved and that's OK.
