The way late Potlatch 14 report

Despite early personal anxiety about the hotel and sleeping logistics, I had a great time at Potlatch this year. We arrived at the hotel in plenty of time to register. Having attended Bay Area Potlatch's since 3, I was pretty familiar with the hotel. Got a chance to say quick hello's to several local fannish folk that I get to see very little.
Usually programming is the big draw for me at conventions. Yes I am peculiar. Although, programming was fine this year. It didn't inspire me as Potlatch programming usually does. There is a way in which panels at Potlatch feed into each other and become this glorious mega conversation that I have enjoyed in past years. That did not happen this year. I enjoyed the Book of Honor panel itself and the panel on drugs in Philip K. Dick's work had moments of real interest. Yet, for me programming was a disappointment.
Con highpoints:
* My very understanding and flexible sweeties;
loracs and
serenejournal. Who helped me cope with my neurotic nature resulting in a wonderful weekend.
* My housemate
dbubley being understanding and flexible as well.
*
serenejournal bought some pretty earrings from
elisem, with my sage advice, for
loracs. Who had forgotten her earrings at home.
* Having a great dinner at the hotel with my family and
rmjwell.
* Getting through the "staged" reading of The Complete Works of Philip K. Dick (Abridged)Adapted and arranged by Janet Lafler and Steven Schwartz dispite technical difficulties. I screwed up my first line, but you know, I have some acting talent.
* Spending too much money on books.
* Having evidence that I'm not the only one in the family who can't control themselves at an auction.
* Ranting about Million Dollar Baby with/to Jeanne Gomoll, the other Jeanne,
loracs,
serenejournal,
abostick, and
wild_irises.
Two Con cons
* Not introducing
serenejournal to
marykaykare face to face.
* Walking all over
serenejournal's attempt at talking to Freddie Bear.

I'm not kidding -- I have zero recollection of this.
