There hasn't been much to talk about on television this fall. Of the old shows coming back. I caught Heroes and liked the first episode, but I've decided to ignore last season. I don't see how I can reconcile what happened last season to anything. It just seemed to be a big reshuffle of heroes with villains, powers, who's alive and who's dead etc. etc. My problem is a couple of the "heroes" like Peter Petrelli and Mohinder (it occurs to me that a I don't remember what happened to Moinder. He wasn't in this premier) killed people and unless they somehow deal with that culpability I just can't think of those characters the same way. So nevermind last season and let's see how this year goes. The addition of Carny superheroes seems interesting and especially the addition of Robert Knepper to the cast will be great.
I'm watching Survivor and Amazing Race. No I'm not going to argue the relative merits of "reality" television. I watch Survivor and like it, but I completely agree with all of its critics. I just don't care, I like the crappy thing. Now Amazing Race is, I think, a good show, certainly the best of the "reality" things, but if you don't like "reality" television shows don't bother.
On occasion I do watch Dancing with the Stars and So We Think You Can Dance? Because
loracs likes them. I don't think I'm going to watch either much because they're up against other shows I want to see.
I saw Accidentally on Purpose with Jenna Elfman. I'm a little boggled that she's playing the "older woman" on this show. She seems to be trying awfully hard in a "please, please like me" kind of way. The show really didn't work for me even with Ashley Jensen in the cast. Ashley stole the show on Extras, but he plays a pretty out there character and I think I like her playing smaller more subtle parts. Although I usually like Jenna and Ashley, I'm giving this show pass. The Big Bang Theory was and is lots of fun.
I admittedly have a weakness for medical dramas. It looks like Mercy will scratch that itch this year. So far there is nothing remarkable about the show, but it's competently done and I do like the main actor.
I tried watching The Forgotten without a lot of hope. It does have Christian Slater in it which is always a good thing in my opinion. I feel like it's the anti-CSI show. Unlike those forensic shows, The Forgotten isn't all shiny and high-tech. It is awfully preachy and I'm not sure how much that will annoy me, but I'll watch a few more episodes.
The only new show that I have really been looking *forward* (hehe) to is Fast Forward. It has certainly lived up to my expectations. I'm really going to have fun watching it.

Date: 2009-09-25 10:16 pm (UTC)the paramour and i talked for a bit about being on it, because hey, everyone who hangs out with us always thanks us for "the floor show", but we decided we weren't in good enough shape, and also -- no, we don't really want to be on television.

Date: 2009-09-25 10:33 pm (UTC)It was basically a mock presidential campaign on television. I wasn't picked and I never actually saw the show. I thought it would be fun to write up a platform of what I really wanted rather than on what I thought politically could be accomplished. I had fun writing up the application anyway.
