The rules:

1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

My answers to [personal profile] wild_irises's questions are

1) As an actor, which role from a play or movie would you most like to attempt? There are quite a few, Henry V, Kaiser Sosay (I'm not spelling that right from the Usual Suspects), Elmer Gantry, Judas in Godspell, Luke in Cool Hand Luke etc.

2) Two of your favorite authors are Robert Heinlein, that great believer in the power of the individual, and Samuel Beckett, a pretty substantial nihilist. What do you have to say about the contrast between these two passions?

Very good question, I wish I had a good answer. I think the place that I see an intersection between Heinlein and Beckett is a determination of spirit. In Heinlein, often his characters succeed. In Beckett, they don't succeed but they keep trying. As Heinlein says "Sure the game is rigged, but it's the only game in town." I think there is nobility in the day-to-day. The doing what is necessary even when it sometimes overwhelms you. Many of Beckett's characters continue to struggle even when it's meaningless. Some of Heinlein's characters continue to struggle even though they know they will lose.

Of course with Beckett, I have been fascinated by his theatrical experiments. There's something in his work that brings out such focus in the smallest details. Something about his work just grabs at something in me that I will never be able to articulate. He gives attention to the smallest things.

3) If you can imagine yourself being sexually attracted to a man, what would he be like? He would probably have to be pretty effeminate. :-) I kid. I imagine I would be attracted to the same things which attract me to women. Their sense of humor, kindness, intelligence, being interested in me.

4) Other than disability issues, what political cause or issue are you most passionate about? Power equity, free speech.

5) What is it about New Orleans, anyway? The one time I visited New Orleans I felt at home. I felt strong and open. There is gaudy tourism, deep spirituality and the food!

1. Why are you calling this the shower meme?

The first time I saw this meme that's what it was called. I have no idea why.

2. I know yuo don't know me well, but, willing to give it a shot? I'll take 5? Sure I will try. Will you try giving me 5?

Here's yours:

1. What do you like about role-playing games? Which is your favorite and why?

2. Do you have a character that tends to recur in several of your role-playing games? Tell me about that character or tell me how you arrive at a character.

3. What's your favorite thing about yourself and what's your least favorite thing.

4. If you could change people's expectations or impressions of you what would you change them to?

5. What's your idea of the perfect day?
