In the United States there are several primaries being held today. Early predictions are that we might get 40 percent of registered voters voting. Yes, many of the "sexy issues" are almost surely decided. However, there are local propositions etc. that deserve our careful attention and our voice. I truly believe that if all the registered voters in this country voted. The United States would be a very different place. Not sure how it would be different but at least it would be the results of more input rather than less. I'd also like to thank those who do vote. I appreciate it.

Hmph. My ballot consisted of the Democratic Presidential candidates, a "Vote For No More Than One" State Committe Chairman, with one option listed, a "Vote For No More Than One" State Committee Chairwoman, with one option listed, and a "Vote For No More Than Thirty-Five" State Democratic Board Members, with thirty-five blank lines.

Not too many local issues to vote on.

On the other hand, I did collect signatures to make sure that Festa remains on the ballot for re-election.

Interesting, my ballot included four California propositions, a County measure, and Green party central committee members of which there were 13 to be appointed and 15 listed. It was a fairly thin ballot this time around, but I assumed most areas would have the odd proposition or measure to contend with

California is the only place in the country that has drunk that much of the Direct Democracy Kool-Aide. Massachusetts had a cup or two, but California drained the entire keg.

Yes, and I wish we hadn't. Along with your run-of-the-mill lobbyists we now get legislation by checkbook. Evidenced by our recent recall election. *sigh*
