My mother practically raised me on Ursula LeGuin. That and fairy tales. I got to see her read a couple of years ago at Cody's, she is just the coolest old lady.
Yep! As the Tiptree Award procurer, *I* got to correspond with her all last year. She was one of the judges. I don't mean to "one up", but there aren't many opportunities to mention that in casual conversation. She is a terrific person as well as a great writer.
The problem with this particular meme (for me anyway) is that I know enough about the subject area that I can steer the result. I tried really hard not to do that.
