[profile] leback asked me to speak at her school symposium a couple of months ago. I was very complemented and how can you say no to her anyway? I didn't think much about it until a couple of weeks ago. When she sent me a reminder note. I'm speaking on a panel called Late-Term Abortion and Disability Rights. I plan to just talk about the history of independent living and how it might frame the discussion. I haven't really spoke in front of a group of people since I was the president of the Board at CIL. Right now I'm in my usual, "What the hell did I get myself into?" headspace. Wish me luck.

I don't know about kicking ass, I think I did OK. Got a lot more nervous than I'm used to getting. I think its lack of practice. As president of CIL's board, I did a lot of these kinds of talks. Generally I think I'm good at this sort of thing. Yesterday wasn't my finest hour. The symposium was great though. They were all very welcoming and they gave me a rosebush!

Sounds like you probably did pretty well, but I won't argue with your self-assessment. ;-)

Yay, rosebush!
