Our Oscar party

I wrote this around noon today, but a computer crash prevented me posting until now.
I think I enjoyed this Oscar awards show more than any I can remember. Jon Stewart was brilliant! I loved the opening montage and his introductory comments. The "real man" cowboy montage was hilarious. Many people showed up for our party. A couple people from
serenejournal's workplace,
someotherguy,
sogwife,
wild_irises,
clever_doberman,
cassidyrose,
ptor,
the_ogre,
minimo, K, and of course,
loracs,
serenejournal, and
dbubley were in attendance.
We printed out oscar ballots.
cassidyrose got thirteen out of the 24 right so she won the prize thoughtfully provided by
serenejournal (I got 11 correct. Clearly. I was robbed! :-) The prizes, included Monty Pyton's Flying Circus DVDs and a "I'll be post-feminist in the post-patriacrhy" pin.
Many hot dogs and nachoes where consumed. Along with popcorn, chips, fancy dips and movie candy (plus a little experimental peanut brittle). We had fun.
A few more Oscar thoughts from memory:
George Clooney is a class act.
Lilly Tomlin and Meryl Streep were wonderful.
I don't have a real problem with any recipients of the major awards, but I sure wish Felicity Huffman, David Strathairn, and Michelle Williams could have won too. They are so good!
I am still surprised that my favorite nominee Good Night, and Good Luck didn't win one of the major awards.
