I was born in the United States. I'm not living there now:

Much like the poor, the jerks are always with us. I note from reading the story that legal action will ensue, and I doubt this will stand.

This is not "no longer the United States" because localized jerkism is in power. The Patriot Act, sure. Outrage is appropriate. But some power mad school principal? What are the odds he is removed, or at least disciplined? Pretty good, seems to me.

If this story was the only thing bothering me I'd be fine. The Patriot Act is another and there are more. I'll admit to being perhaps too pessimistic, but that's how I'm feeling right now.

If that's how you feel, then that's how you feel. I don't think feeling that way is wrong, I just think there's a disproportionate amount of outrage round getting triggered by what looks like minor stuff to me.

Well, a teacher lost his job and the principal held the teacher's records which complicated his ability to get another job. That doesn't seem so minor to me.

Hi, Guy,
thanks for adding me, and I linked back to you. Was browsing your pages and saw this. The link to the poetry news article is a dead one, but I think I heard about that previously and share your outrage. Looks like we share similar disgruntlement zones, as well as an affinity for lizards. :) Nice to meet you.

Hi Teramis,

I was introduced to your livejournal though [personal profile] rmjwell's. I'm drawn to some D/s. Although I've never played with it much nor do I have any idea how I would "do" it if I got more interested. I can't say I'm particularly comfortable with D/s as it is popularly portrayed. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the subject more carfully. It's good to meet you too. Thanks for adding me to your friends list. I'll try to be interesting :-)
